Ubuntu how to increase the / file system using growpart

 Issue:

last time i faced a problem in my ubuntu to increase the / file system, even this is a part of LVM.

When I tried lvextend and resizefs also the / file system not expanding.


Solution:

Using the growpart package

1.Install growpart:  apt install -y cloud-guest-utils

2.Run: growpart <disk name> <partition name> 

   example: growpart /dev/vda 3

3.Extend LV: lvextend -l +100%FREE /dev/ubuntu-vg/ubuntu-lv

4.Extend FS:  resize2fs /dev/ubuntu-vg/ubuntu-lv

Change ESXi acceptane level of VIBs to community Supported
